Day
1 Information : ULUDAG, being within easy access of Istanbul, is a small but lively resort with a colourful night-life frequented by locals from Istanbul. There is a wide scope of activities for non (or less enthusiastic) skiers and is as suitable for fun-orientated skiers as it is for the serious skier. Despite the number of lifts, there are in effect eight skiing pistes: one nursery, two easy (blue) runs, three intermediate (red) runs and two more difficult and longer upper-intermediate (red-black) runs. Uludag is located in a "snow trap" and usually has good snow conditions (it is not unusual to have 3 m. of snow!).
Transportation to Uludag from Istanbul city hotel or airport takes approximately 4 hours, one hour of which is spent on the ferry crossing across the Bay of Izmit.
PALANDOKEN with its challenging pistes, is suitable for the serious skier and there are ample runs for beginners and intermediates too. The resort is purpose built and currently has only 3 hotels so is quieter than Uludag. The hotels provide all comforts while the skier has the very important advantage of excellent snow. The non-skier will enjoy visiting the nearby town of Erzurum for shopping and sightseeing.
Easily accessible, Palandoken is only 1,5 hours flying time from Istanbul and only 10 minutes drive from Erzurum Airport.
Onur Air has a daily flight from Istanbul to Erzurum from 31st October 2004 until 26th March 2005 as follows:- Istanbul - Erzurum: OHY 038 1210-1400
